Protection profiles are detailed security checklists for a particular domain. They may be added to ISDP concepts to provide guidance to the personnel in charge of the implementation of security controls in a project, thus increasing the granularity of recommendations for a particular domain.
To avoid reinventing the wheel, protection profiles may consist of a simple link to an existing standard/security checklist on Internet and/or a custom checklist.
